The Hayward XStream 100 Cartridge Filter System does not require the use of Diatomaceous Earth (D.E.) powder. This system features a high quality cartridge that will clean the debris from your pool water without the need for any D.E. powder.
These high quality filter cartridges generally last 1-2 pool seasons depending on usage. Cartridge Filter Systems do not require backwashing. To clean the filter, you simply take the cartridge out of the tank, rinse it off with a garden hose, place it back in the tank and you are good to go. If you notice the pressure/flow is low even after cleaning the cartridge thoroughly, it can indicate the cartridge needs to be replaced.
